Tools in their pocket

Apps that come with the psychoeducation. Guided breathing and grounding, and Dropping the Rope for a stuck thought. After a session, people take the matching app home, so they can practise the very thing they just learned.

A growing library. More tools added over time, each tied to what we teach, and we can tailor them to your workplace.

Check-ins on the website. Private self-assessments a team member can use to quietly track how they are doing and catch a problem early.

And I am glad to work alongside your team, developing tools that fit your context.

Available to your team

Check-ins and screening

Confidential check-ins, built right into the website, so your people can quietly track how they are doing and catch a problem early. Included for your team as part of our working relationship.

What "assessment" means here. Recognized screening tools, AUDIT, DAST, PHQ-9, GAD-7, used for screening and self-reflection, not diagnosis. Anything that needs a formal diagnosis, I refer out. Scope confirmed for BC.

A course, not a one-off session

Multi-unit courses, built out over a semester

A course runs across several units; each is a short lesson, a practical exercise, and a check-in, so the learning builds and holds.

Sleep and Recovery

Simple sleep habits that hold up on a demanding schedule; morning sunlight to set the body clock earlier so an early start gets easier; a cool, dark, quiet room; and a wind-down breathing app for the last few minutes of the day.

Stress and Substance

I was a pastor at The Mustard Seed and ran a recovery home, so this is lived ground. Cravings rise and fall like a wave; we practise noticing and riding one out instead of fighting it, backed by an app that lets a person watch the craving fade.

Every unit sends people home with something to keep: a card, a practice, or an app.

Why your people will talk to me

I have been on the tools, and I have led

Before I counselled, I served in the infantry, built years of business and leadership experience in the trades, and led The Mustard Seed. I have done the hands-on work and carried the weight of leading an organization, so I understand your people and the pressures they carry.

  • Canadian Armed Forces veteran; approved to see veterans through VAC (Medavie)
  • Business and leadership experience in the trades, in plumbing and condo renovation
  • Over 500 hours of public speaking, week after week as a pastor at The Mustard Seed; I know how to hold a hard room
  • Master's-level counsellor: CCC, MACP, MDiv, DPC; based on Vancouver Island

Where I fit

I add to what you already have

Most organizations already invest in their people, through benefits, an EAP, or HR programs. I am not here to duplicate that. I add capacity, reach, and depth, and I work alongside what you have built.

Scope. Education and awareness, not a compliance audit or a psychological assessment. Anything clinical, I refer out.

If funding is the barrier

Grant funding, worth exploring

Cost should not be why your people go without support. For many organizations, part of this work can be covered by a grant. If that could help you, I am glad to find the right program and write the application with you. You would be the applicant; I bring the mental-health piece, as your named delivery partner.

Federal workplace fundsWell-being and violence-prevention streams

Every organization is different. These are a few starting points, each with its own rules; together we would find what could actually fit yours.
