Our Commitment to Accessibility
Everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. I’m committed to making my services, office, and website accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities.
If you encounter any barriers to accessing my services or this website, please let me know. I’m here to help and will work with you to find solutions.
Accessibility isn’t just about meeting guidelines; it’s about ensuring that everyone who needs support can access it without unnecessary obstacles. Whether you have mobility challenges, sensory differences, neurodivergence, or other accessibility needs, I want to make sure you can access therapy in a way that works for you.
I take this commitment seriously and am continuously working to improve accessibility across all aspects of my practice.
Website Accessibility
This website is designed to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. I’ve built this site with the following features to ensure it’s usable for everyone:
- Keyboard navigation: You can navigate the entire site using only your keyboard, without needing a mouse
- Screen reader compatibility: All content is structured to work with assistive technologies like screen readers
- Adequate color contrast: Text and background colors meet accessibility standards for readability
- Resizable text: You can increase text size in your browser without losing functionality
- Alternative text for images: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text
- Clear, simple language: I avoid unnecessary jargon and explain terms when clinical language is needed
- Logical structure: Headings and content are organized in a clear hierarchy
If you’re having trouble accessing any part of this website, please reach out. I want to make sure you can get the information you need.

My office at 132-328 Wale Road, Colwood is fully wheelchair accessible. Here’s what you can expect:

- Ground-level access: The office is accessible at ground level
- Accessible washrooms: Wheelchair-accessible washroom facilities are available in the building
- Waiting area: The waiting room is accessible and has seating available
If you have specific accessibility needs beyond what’s listed here, please let me know when booking your appointment. I want to ensure you’re comfortable and that we can address any concerns in advance.
Getting to the Office (Transit & Parking Details)
The office is conveniently located near Colwood Exchange (also known as Colwood Park & Ride), which is approximately 300 meters away (a 4-5 minute walk). This major transit hub is located near the intersection of Island Highway and Wale Road.
Transit Routes Available
Key routes serving Colwood Exchange include:
- Route 95 (Blink RapidBus): Frequent rapid service connecting Langford and Downtown Victoria
- Route 50: Goldstream / Downtown
- Route 61: Sooke / Downtown

Parking
Free parking is available in the building lot with no time restrictions for client appointments. Accessible parking spaces are clearly marked near the entrance.
We recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow time to find parking and locate the office. If you have any concerns about parking or accessibility, please mention it when booking.
If you have questions about accessibility or transportation options, please ask when booking your appointment.
Virtual Session Accessibility
I offer secure virtual sessions through Jane App, which are accessible via desktop, tablet, or smartphone. Virtual sessions can be particularly helpful if you have mobility challenges, transportation difficulties, or other barriers to attending in-person appointments.
Jane App’s video platform supports assistive technologies and works with most accessibility features built into your device.
This includes compatibility with common screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack), voice control systems, screen magnification tools, and other assistive devices.
If you have concerns about accessing virtual sessions or need accommodations for video therapy, please let me know. We can discuss options like adjusting video settings, using audio-only sessions if needed, or providing session transcripts if requested.
Alternative Formats for Documents
All documents, including intake forms, consent forms, and policy documents, are available in alternative formats upon request. If you need any materials provided in large print, audio format, Braille, or any other accessible format, please contact me.
I will provide documents in your preferred format within 5 business days of your request. For urgent situations, let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate you more quickly.
Digital Document Accessibility
All digital documents I provide (including PDFs, forms, and handouts) are designed to be screen reader accessible and meet accessibility standards. This means they include:
- Proper document structure with headings
- Alternative text for images and graphics
- Clear navigation and logical reading order
- Tagged PDFs for screen reader compatibility
If you encounter any digital documents that aren’t accessible, please let me know so I can address the issue immediately.
Communication Accommodations
If you need communication accommodations, I’m happy to work with you. These accommodations help ensure therapy is accessible and effective for your specific needs. This might include:
During Sessions
- Extended processing time: Extra time during sessions to process information or formulate responses without pressure
- Plain language: Using clear, concrete language and avoiding metaphors or abstract concepts if that’s more helpful
- Visual supports: Diagrams, written notes, or other visual aids during sessions
- Communication pace: Adjusting the speed or intensity of conversation to match your needs
Between Sessions
- Written communication preferences: Email or text communication instead of phone calls for scheduling or check-ins
- Session summaries: Written summaries of key points, insights, or action items from each session
Environment & Scheduling
- Environmental adjustments: Modifying lighting, seating arrangements, or noise levels in the office
- Flexible scheduling: Accommodating health needs, energy patterns, or other disability-related scheduling requirements
Please don’t hesitate to tell me what would make therapy more accessible for you. These conversations are part of creating a therapeutic space that actually works for you, not just one that follows a standard formula. There’s no accommodation too small or unusual to discuss.
