Counselling rooted in the West Shore
The West Shore is Greater Victoria’s fastest-growing region. Over 135,000 people now live across Colwood, Langford, Metchosin, Highlands, and the surrounding communities. Between 2016 and 2021, nearly half of all new housing in the Capital Regional District was built right here.
That growth brings opportunity. It also brings pressure that doesn’t always get talked about. The Highway 1 commute. The mortgage that stretches further than it should. Military families navigating another posting. Tradespeople building the region’s future while running on empty themselves.
Maybe none of that describes you exactly. Maybe the thing you’re dealing with has nothing to do with where you live; it’s older, quieter, and harder to name. That’s fine too. You don’t need a specific reason to reach out.
Introspectus Counselling is located in Colwood, on Wale Road, right in the heart of the West Shore. I work with clients from every community in this region; in person and virtually.
Serving the people who are building this community
Military families and veterans CFB Esquimalt is the third-largest military installation in Canada, and many of its families live right here in Colwood and Langford. I served in the Canadian Armed Forces infantry and understand military culture from the inside; the operational stress, the transition challenges, and the pressure to keep it together. My office is a 3–5 minute drive from Belmont Park military housing. → Read more on the Colwood page
Trades professionals and blue-collar workers Langford’s construction boom has made it the engine of the region’s housing supply. Thousands of tradespeople work and live here. I owned and operated a plumbing business and understand the physical toll, the shift schedules, and the stigma around asking for help in trades culture. → Read more on the Langford page
High-stress professionals and leaders Whether you’re managing a team, running a business, or carrying the weight of a role where everyone depends on you, the pressure of leadership can be isolating. I’ve led in three different worlds; a military unit, a small business, and a church community serving people in crisis. Each one taught me something about what it costs to be the person everyone else leans on, and what happens when you have nowhere to put that weight down.
People exploring faith, meaning, and purpose I hold a Master of Divinity and spent a decade in pastoral ministry. I work with people wrestling with questions of faith, spirituality, doubt, and meaning; as someone who’s lived inside those questions, not just studied them. This is not faith deconstruction work. It’s exploration on your terms.
Anyone who hasn’t found the right fit yet Not everyone falls into a neat category. If you’ve been scrolling through therapist profiles and nothing quite clicks, the thing that makes Introspectus different is the breadth of real-world experience behind the clinical training.

About Sean Lewis
My path to counselling wasn’t a straight line, and that’s the point.
I served in the Canadian Armed Forces infantry. I owned and operated a plumbing business. I spent a decade in pastoral ministry, including six years leading The Mustard Seed Street Church in Victoria, working alongside people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and crisis.
Those years taught me something that graduate school alone couldn’t; how to sit with people in hard places without flinching, without rushing to fix, and without pretending to have answers I don’t have.
I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Master of Divinity from Carey College. My primary therapeutic approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, family systems, and pastoral counselling.
I provide both secular, evidence-based therapy and, for those who want it, faith-informed pastoral counselling. You guide the framework; I bring the training and the experience.
My office is right here on Wale Road in Colwood. This is my community.
The Science of Healing. The Art of Care.

Questions about counselling on the West Shore
Where is your office?
132-328 Wale Road in Colwood, in the Coastal Offices building at Westridge Landing. We’re beside the Holiday Inn Express and Lee Valley Tools, near Colwood Corners. Centrally located in the West Shore with free parking.
Do you serve all of the West Shore?
Yes. I see clients from Colwood, Langford, View Royal, Metchosin, Highlands, and Sooke. In-person sessions happen at the Colwood office. Virtual sessions are available for anyone, anywhere in BC or across Canada.
Do you work with veterans and military families?
Yes. I served in the Canadian Armed Forces infantry, and our office is minutes from CFB Esquimalt and Belmont Park military housing. I understand military culture, operational stress, and transition challenges firsthand. We are currently in the process of becoming a registered Veterans Affairs Canada provider through Medavie Blue Cross. In the meantime, sessions may be covered through your existing extended health benefits.
Do you work with people in trades?
Yes. I owned a plumbing business and understand trades culture from the inside; the physical toll, the stigma, the schedules, and the pressure to push through everything.
I’ve never been to therapy before and I’m not sure where to start.
That’s completely normal, and you don’t need to figure anything out before your first session. Book a free 15-minute consultation if you’d like to talk briefly and see whether this feels like a fit. Or just book a session; we’ll start wherever you are. There’s no wrong way to begin.
What’s the difference between a counsellor and a psychologist?
Both provide effective, evidence-based therapy. A psychologist holds a doctoral degree and can perform formal assessments and diagnoses. A counsellor with the CCC designation holds a Master’s degree and provides therapy using many of the same evidence-based approaches. Both require supervised clinical hours, and both are recognized by most major insurers in BC.
Is counselling covered by my benefits?
Most extended health plans cover sessions with a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Call your insurer and ask: “Does my plan cover a Canadian Certified Counsellor?” Introspectus Counselling provides itemized receipts for reimbursement, and counselling fees are tax-deductible.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online without a referral.
Can I do virtual sessions?
Yes. Virtual sessions are available across BC and Canada through a secure, PIPEDA-compliant video platform. Many clients mix in-person and virtual depending on their week.
Is counselling at Introspectus faith-based?
Not by default. I provide secular, evidence-based therapy as the foundation of all my work. For clients who want to explore questions of faith, meaning, or spirituality, I also bring pastoral training and a decade of experience as someone who’s lived inside those questions. You set the direction.
The West Shore deserves better access to mental health care
This region’s population has grown faster than the services supporting it. Finding a family doctor is hard enough. Finding a therapist who actually understands the pressures of life on the West Shore shouldn’t be.
Book a session online, or start with a free 15-minute consultation if you’d like to talk first. In person on Wale Road, or virtually from wherever you are.
We also serve
