How This Practice Uses Artificial Intelligence

Last updated: March 2026

At Introspectus Counselling, transparency is central to everything I do; in the therapy room and on this website. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are part of how I build and maintain this practice, and you deserve to know exactly how they are used, where the boundaries are, and what protections are in place.

This page explains my current use of AI across three areas: website content, client-facing tools, and clinical documentation.

Website Content

AI assists me with content ideas, research, and editing throughout this website. I use AI tools to explore topics, refine language, and check accuracy. I do not use AI to draft full content. Every page, blog post, and resource on this site is written by me, Sean Lewis, and reflects my professional training, clinical experience, and personal voice. AI supports the process; it does not replace it.

Some images on this website are AI-generated. These are used to create a welcoming visual tone while protecting the privacy of real individuals. AI-generated images on this site do not depict real people, real clients, or real therapy sessions.

All content and images are reviewed and approved by me before publication. If you ever notice an error or have a question about something on this site, please reach out directly.

AI Chatbot

This website includes an AI-powered chatbot designed to help visitors find information about the practice, services, and booking. The chatbot is trained exclusively on content from this website; it does not access external data, client records, or any third-party information sources.

The chatbot is not a therapist. It cannot provide counselling, clinical advice, crisis support, or treatment recommendations. It is a navigation tool only. If you are in crisis, please contact the BC Crisis Line at 1-800-784-2433 or call 911.

Information you enter into the chatbot is not stored in client files, used to train AI models, or shared with third parties. For questions the chatbot cannot answer, it will direct you to contact me directly or book through Jane App.

Clinical Documentation

I use Jane App’s AI-assisted SOAP note feature to support clinical documentation. This tool helps me organize session notes efficiently so I can focus more fully on being present with you during our time together.

Here is how it works and what protections are in place:

What the tool does. Jane App’s AI feature assists with structuring clinical notes after a session. It does not listen to sessions, record audio, or generate content independently. I review, edit, and approve every note before it becomes part of your clinical record.

Your information is protected. Jane App’s AI SOAP note feature is encrypted and compliant with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Your data is not used to train AI models, shared with third parties, or accessed by anyone other than me as your counsellor.

You have a choice. Participation in AI-assisted documentation is covered in your informed consent. You have the right to opt out of AI-assisted note-taking at any time, without any impact on the quality of care you receive or your access to services. If you prefer that I use traditional documentation methods only, I am happy to do so.

For full details on how your personal information is collected, stored, and protected, please see our Privacy and Data Storage Policy.

What AI Does Not Do in This Practice

To be clear about the boundaries:

  • AI does not provide therapy, counselling, or clinical advice to clients
  • AI does not make clinical decisions, generate treatment plans, or produce diagnostic assessments
  • AI does not have access to your personal information, session content, or clinical records outside of the encrypted Jane App documentation feature described above
  • AI does not communicate with clients on my behalf regarding clinical matters
  • No client information is used to train AI models at any point
  • AI-generated content is never presented as a substitute for professional guidance

All clinical decisions, treatment planning, and therapeutic work remain entirely my responsibility as a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Know when and how AI is involved in any aspect of your care
  • Ask questions about AI use at any time
  • Opt out of AI-assisted documentation without impact on your access to services or quality of care
  • Request that only traditional (non-AI) methods be used for your clinical records
  • Withdraw your consent for AI tool use at any point during our work together

Commitment to Responsible Use

I am guided by the ethical standards of the CCPA Code of Ethics, the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors’ AI and Clinical Practice Guidelines (March 2025), and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). As AI tools and regulations evolve, I will update this policy accordingly and notify active clients of any significant changes.

If you have any questions about how AI is used in this practice, I welcome the conversation. You can reach me directly at sean@introspectuscounselling.ca or book a session through Jane App.
