Your information stays with you. Here is how that works.

The free tools on this site are built so that your answers never leave your device. This page explains exactly what that means, what the one optional exception is, and how the coming self-check questionnaires handle your responses. It covers the interactive tools at introspectuscounselling.ca/tools/ and the printable worksheets. It also covers the installed app versions from the app stores, and the mental health self-checks as they launch.

For how I protect what you share with me in counselling itself, see the Privacy Policy & Confidentiality page. A website visitor is not a client, and I keep those two worlds separate.

Quick Summary

  • ✓ What you type into the tools stays on your device; it is never sent to me or to any server
  • ✓ The tools have no accounts and no ads, and set no cookies of their own
  • ✓ Every tool that saves answers includes an “erase everything from all tools” control; deletion is in your hands
  • ✓ One optional exception: if you join the newsletter, your email address (only) goes to my newsletter service
  • ✓ Self-check questionnaires are scored in your browser; results are not transmitted or stored by me
  • ✓ For workplace programs, your employer never sees your individual results
  • ✓ These tools are educational; they are not a medical device and do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition
  • ✓ Questions? Email sean@introspectuscounselling.ca

What these tools are

The tools are free, interactive exercises: paced breathing, grounding, thought records, urge surfing, values clarification, and others. They are things to use between sessions, or on their own, whether or not you ever become a client.

They are educational self-help resources. They are not therapy, not a medical device, and they do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. If you are making decisions about your health, please talk with your doctor.

What stays on your device

Everything you type. Your answers are held in your browser’s own storage on your phone or computer. They are never transmitted to me, to my website, or to any third party. There is no account, no login, and no copy anywhere else.

That design has a plain consequence: I could not read your answers if I wanted to, and I cannot recover them for you either. If you clear your browser data, or use the “erase everything from all tools” control in any tool that saves answers, they are gone. If you want to keep your work, each tool lets you download or print your own copy. That copy goes only to your device.

The one thing you can choose to send

Some tools offer a newsletter sign-up at the end. If you enter your email address and press subscribe, that address (and nothing else) goes to my newsletter service, MailerLite. MailerLite stores it on servers that may be located outside Canada. What you wrote in the tool is never attached to it.

This is express opt-in: nothing is collected unless you type your email and press the button. I use your address only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any issue, and unsubscribing removes your address. I do not share or sell the list.

Self-checks and assessments

The mental health self-checks (questionnaires such as mood, anxiety, and stress check-ins) follow the same rule as the tools: your responses are scored in your browser, on your device. Your answers and your score are not transmitted to me and I keep no record of them. Each self-check carries its own reminder on the page: it is a screening tool for reflection, not a diagnosis. A score is a starting point for a conversation with a qualified professional, not a conclusion.

If you later choose to book a results review, you bring your own saved results to that conversation. Nothing crosses from the website to your clinical record unless you become a client and share it yourself.

Workplace and organization programs

Where these self-checks are offered through an employer, union, or other organization, the boundary is contractual and absolute: the organization never sees an individual’s results. At most, it may receive usage counts, such as how many people completed a check-in. There is no monitoring and no alerting. Your results stay with you.

Analytics and cookies

The tools themselves run either no analytics at all, or a cookieless counter that records that a page was visited and nothing about who visited it. They set no cookies of their own and use no advertising or tracking identifiers. One infrastructure note: my hosting’s security layer (Cloudflare) sets a short-lived security cookie on every page of this site to block automated abuse. It identifies a browser session, not a person, and I never see it.

The main website (the pages outside /tools/) uses Google Analytics to understand overall traffic, and the booking system is run by Jane App. Booking and anything you send through Jane are covered by the Privacy Policy & Confidentiality page.

The installed app

The app-store version of these tools (“Introspectus Tools”) is the same set of web tools in an installable wrapper. The same rules apply: your answers stay on your device, there are no accounts, and the app requests no permissions beyond internet access. The only data the tools themselves collect is the optional newsletter email described above, and only if you choose to send it. If you follow a link from the app to my main website, the website’s own analytics (described above) apply there.

Children

These tools and this website are intended for adults and are not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your rights and how to reach me

Because your tool answers never reach me, there is nothing on my side to access, correct, or delete; deletion is the erase control on your own device. For the newsletter list, you can ask what is held about you, correct it, or have it removed at any time.
